Theodore Roosevelt Mitchell
February 24, 1936 ~ July 13, 2023

Theodore Roosevelt Mitchell was born February 24, 1936 to the union of De Leon Mitchell and Elma (Worrior) Mitchell in Marshall, Texas. Theo, Theodore, Ted, Teddy Bear, Joe Boy, Mitch, Mitchell was a man with many endearing names. We were fondof them all. He and his previously deceased siblings Alfred (Gussie), Adolphus (Lois), John (Joyce), and Alvestine (Harvey), all attended California schools for their formal education. Theodore graduated from Vallejo High School, L.A. Trade Tech College (Electrician) and Mt. San Antonio College (AA). He worked as a Signal Light Electrician for the City of Los Angeles after serving honorably in the U.S. Army.

Theodore passed away on July 13, 2023 in Riverside, California. He was surrounded by his wife, Samerna and her daughter Gaia; His son, Marcus and his wife Sara; and several dear family members and friends.

If you knew Mitchell, then you knew that he enjoyed SPORTS! Some of Mitchell’s happiest times were watching his family and teams win. Football, basketball, tennis, track… He loved it. In a room full of people, he is going to have one eye on the sports.

Mitchell was a proud father that loved his family. He and Samerna Scott raised one daughter, Gaia Scott-Crouch. He and Othell Mitchell (Deceased) had one son, Marcus Mitchell (Sara); he and Susan Johnson Mitchell (Deceased) nurtured Kim, Debbie, Lynda, and Mark Johnson (Annie). He also has cherished grandchildren Darren, Gabriel, Alicia, Victoria, Ava, Sarina and Emma. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
But remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
My going has eased my heart,
and given me relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me,
Not as I am now, but as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you all
And look on with a smile.
Understand in your hearts,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
