Joseph George Bingham, JR.
April 30, 1922 ~ December 23, 2022

Joseph G. Bingham, Jr., long time Rossmoor resident, died peacefully in his home on Friday, aged 100. Joseph is survived by his son Mark Bingham, his son John Bingham, his daughter Marianne Bingham Ditri and six grandchildren. Joe was predeceased in 1999 by his wife of 53 years, Ruthanne, editor for many years of the Los Alamitos News Enterprise.

Joe was raised in Pennsylvania and Ohio and attended Ohio State until World War II intervened. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines and with the occupation forces in Japan.

Upon his return, he completed his degree at Ohio State, met and married the former Ruthanne Hartman and eventually moved to San Diego where Joe worked in the aerospace industry.

Joe, Ruthanne and their three children moved to Rossmoor in 1967 and remained in the same home on Kensington Road ever since. Joe retired from National Gypsum in Long Beach in 1977. He enjoyed his retirement playing tennis with his friends at Rossmoor Park until his late 80’s.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers who ministered to Joe in his waning days Al, Abby, and Arnold.
